WHO IS JASON B. COPE?

"My goal is to teach orthodontists to produce and deliver highly professional aligners in the shortest time, with the smallest cost, and a happy staff."

Internationally acclaimed for his pioneering research and clinical techniques on TADs, Dr. Jason B. Cope is also widely known for being a perfectionist, not only for his orthodontic cases, but for everything he does. Although his name is synonymous with TADs, he was also one of the first orthodontists to implement digital technology into his practice and to deliver a turnkey solution for in-house aligners and indirect bonding. He’s also a key leader in helping to develop digital products and software available in orthodontics today.

Dr. Cope has spent the last five years perfecting the digital workflow of intra-oral scanning, digital case setup, 3D printing, and fabrication/delivery of in-office aligners and indirect bonding trays. Dr. Cope wasn’t overly interested in clear aligner treatment until he felt that he could truly control every aspect of treatment and his final results. With an in-office digital workflow, that time is now.

His digital learning curve came with much expense and trial and error, and he wants to keep you from hitting the wall by attempting to learn the process from scratch. He uses his experience to help you to quickly incorporate digital orthodontics in your office while avoiding the mistakes he made.

During this course, Dr. Cope will show you what he considers the best in technology available and the most user-friendly software. He’ll also show you how to streamline your workflow in the most seamless manner possible so you can achieve consistent results without the frustration of the usual learning curve.

COURSE OUTLINE

Overview of the software and hardware necessary to successfully implement your own digital workflow, including a discussion of the major players in each category.

Each participant will perform or experience all aspects of the digital workflow from intra-oral scan importing to delivering aligners.

All participants will use the Windows-based software  uLab uDesign to setup their own cases for retainers and aligners. Note: uLab is currently only available for commercial use in the US and Canada. It will be available for use at the course, but it is not currently available outside the US/Canada. If you have questions, please contact uLab directly at Support@ulabsystems.com.

All phases of aligner fabrication will be demonstrated – Etch templates, attachment templates, template loading, and packaging.

We’ll troubleshoot and discuss as we go through each step. You’ll learn invaluable tips and hacks that we’ve learned from our experience.

We’ll also discuss costs of everything involved with the process of in-office aligner fabrication and delivery.

During the course, attendees will:

  • Use STL files to setup their cases.
    • Using uLab uDesign Windows-based software for in-office retainer or aligner setups with attachment design, basing, labelling, and outputting print-ready files.
  • Using Infinity productivity app to track aligners and appliances submitted to their in-office or external lab.
  • Several of these cases will then be sent to the 3D printer for model printing and subsequent clear retainer or aligner fabrication.
  • Finally, we’ll package and simulate delivering aligners/retainers.

WHAT ELSE IS INCLUDED?

Food & Beverages: Food & Beverages will be provided; continental breakfast, lunch, & snacks.

The KIT: A complete resource list of all the materials & equipment you will need. This alone will save you countless hours in research.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will I need to renovate my lab?

Not necessarily. I didn’t renovate my analog lab when I converted to digital 4 years ago. I simply sold my analog equipment and replaced it with digital equipment. And I’ll show you exactly what I did.

Will I need to hire full time staff for this?

In short, no; unless you are short-staffed currently. I recommend starting slow and making retainers first, mastering the workflow, then progressing to light and moderate cases. This is something that most staff can handle without much difficulty. The step-by-step and detailed information in the course will make your staff’s life much easier.

I’m already making in-office aligners. Will this course be too “beginner for me”?

Are you operating at maximum capacity? Do you know what it costs you to make each aligner? Is your process streamlined to remove all inefficiencies? Everyone who has taken this course who was more advanced in their experience, has reported considerable increases in efficiencies with their processes.

I don’t have any equipment yet, but I want to start, am I too early to take this course?

Everyone has to start somewhere. I have had some orthodontists take the course who had no scanners or printers. When they left the course, they had completely changed their mind on what they thought they should buy and it saved them time and money. I’ve had others who completely changed their lab layout just before starting construction because of what they learned in the course.

I have a small lab, is it possible to do in-house aligners?

I you have enough room for a 3D printer, a thermoforming machine, a curing unit, and a wash station, you should be fine. All of this will fit into about 8 linear feet of counter space. Considering that some analog equipment will need to be retired, most offices have enough room to make it work.

How much should I expect to save with in-office aligners?

I’ll show you the exact details on expenses in my cost analysis lecture. I’ve been able to decrease my aligner lab expenses by 70%. I am not in a high discount tier, so depending on your tier and discount level, your savings would be a minimum of about 50%, but probably higher.

Do I need to be at a certain place and time to attend the course?

Yes, the course will take place at Dr. Cope’s office in Dallas, TX. When you sign up for the course, we  will send you hotel recommendation and further instructions.

Can staff take this course?

Yes, staff members can take this course if accompanied by the Doctor, or if the Doctor is an alumni.  Due to the limited availability, staff members will pay the same tuition as doctors.
